This is what it looks like when I’m hand-piecing. That’s all I need. You can tell the size of the pieces based on the needle there I think. (BTW, I have a little story to tell you about those readers. I think they’re 250′s. I was w/o my glasses one day and planning on doing appliqué. I don’t know about you but I simply cannot do an appliqué stitch without my readers. Anyway, my friend had some readers but said they were stronger than what I was using. Lord-love-a-duck they were and I could actually see. I was straining before but not anymore. Now I can seriously see and figured I’d use them for hand-piecing as well as appliqué. Might as well see it all!)
So that photo above is the start of what you see here. This is the 6″ finished first New York Beauty from Inklingo. If you go here you can see the ideas that we you can do.
I think I’ll start to give it some thought though. This really was nice to stitch. It’d definitely easier than a Sunflower I can promise you that. A sunflower is on my sidebar in blue and white in case you’re wondering.

Before I started in on the New York Beauty I finished up another Joseph’s Coat block. That’s going to be a pretty quilt. I really enjoy the hybrid piecing of it. You know – hand and machine piecing. I’m also proud of myself for focusing on completing what I was working on before heading into something else – even if it was just in the moment. Hey, what am I thinking? Life is made up of moments.

I’m totally enjoying reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell on my Kindle. All I remember about it was that it was about magic and it was set it England. As I read it the characters are coming back to me but I realize I didn’t really “read” it. This is fun to me. Its like finding the book all over again.

Yesterday was a high pain day. My legs hurt terribly and I had to go out, too. Walking was ack! So… I got on my stationary bike, loosened them up, stretched out and made the above block. This morning I’m feeling very little pain AND I’m not going out. Well, I did go outside and pick up the yard since the pet sitter is coming to spend time with the dogs and the yard guys could come anytime. Bottom line – yesterday was omg-terrible-pain and today its much better. I’ll be jotting about this so I can track as I continue to heal.

I hope you enjoyed my block today. I really wanted to share it with y’all. I know it’s not the usual colorful block you’re used to seeing but, you know, I love my Repro fabrics and it was the creation I was after. Do you have any color combo’s you might use? I’m interested…
