This block is still neat and offers so many ways to play with triangles and fabrics I’m just now seeing.
The piecing itself is fun. Some inset-seams aren’t bad.
I’ve improved my pressing.
I think its interesting the way I had to work with the iron and the fabric to get it to roll into the swirl center which gives you a flat block. It was difficult in places. I couldn’t get a picture of it but I have that fabric force-pressed into the center swirl just at the edge of the seam. That’s where my area to manipulate the fabric is at. I have a good .25″ to make this happen and it did. There is some bulk there but not so much to make me concerned.
That said, if I had the chance to start this all over I’d have black or double pink stars and scrappy blocks. I think that’s a better way to go. Now that I know that, now that I have a clearer vision, I might have just sucked the life right out of this project. Dang.

It’s gorgeous!!!! Love how you set it.
WOW!!! You never cease to amaze me with you talent for precision. It gorgeous!
I hope you will continue with this project! It looks wonderful.
Oh no! This is too darn pretty to have the life sucked out of it! I hope this project pulls you back!
AMAZINGLY NEAT! I am in awe!
It’s beautiful!!
I love the colors – but understand the thoughts of change – and of course starting over – what a drag. I had to completely redo a queen size Dresden Plate because my poor old cat ruined it. I thought I’d never get done – but it is done and ready to be quilted – at last – three years later (I did do a few other things in between)
I think the colors you’ve chosen are perfect! Serene and very well balanced. There’s a great sense of harmony. You’ve done a marvelous job with the piecing. Kudos to you and thanks for sharing.
Love this project. Throw a few pinks & cheddars in place of the dark triangles in there just to spice it up. Best thing about antique quilts is the unexpected use of color.
Why not make a couple scrappy ones…there are no rules that say all the blocks need to be the same! I love antique quilts that have one or two “what was she thinking?” blocks!
That is a very interesting project. You know, nothing is ever wasted whether it’s fabric, or time, or brain power – even if you aren’t really thrilled about the project. You have learnt quite a lot working with this block!
I LIKE the colors and the patterns you have going there now, but…..there’s adventure in changing mid-stream. Your piecing is perfection!
Oh, I like the scrappiness with all the browns and blacks and red! Very cool play–and the swirlies work
Looking good… and thanks for sharing your twirling-swirling intersections… fascinating!
I love your blocks, please don’t stop! I have to admit I have fallen down that same path myself, your comments made me laugh.
It’s great the way you showed the front and the back. Really great design from you, as usual.
I love twirling in the centers… this is SEW pretty!
It is a fabulous project. Keep rolling with it! Love seeing your design wall too. Im hoping to get mine back soon so I will live through yours for now
Look at it this way–it’s an opportunity to make it again…..
