Self Rule is evil. I have so many statues and guidelines that determine when and how I can post to my Blog I bet I could compete with the Tax Code but I’m throwing that out the window to share my latest almost finish.
The inspiration for the red, white and blue “Cheddar Cheese and Crackers” pattern came straight from Janet at Mrs Sew n’ sew – a funtastic blog. I totally dig Janet. Check her out.
I’d like to say that my piecework and my dimensions are done with the skill & precision I like to see ( as they were when I first copied Lori’s pattern). You can see my version of the original doll quilt here. Anyway, I don’t know what the heck happened but this patriotic version has more errors than I’d like but mostly you can’t see ‘em so they don’t exist.
Still, it’s super cute and I’ll be proud to hang this one. I can’t tell you how much I love this pattern. It’s just really a lot of fun. Don’t be surprised if I make another one. Thinking you might call Call Me Crazy? No. Not me. She’s over here at Crazy’boutquilts.
My pre-posting statues and guidelines require that I reply to all comments and visit as many blogs as I possibly can before I post anything. I just haven’t done that before I so rudely jumped in and shared but I guess that’s just me today. I had to share and I couldn’t catch up because I was feeling pretty spry and went to the quilt shop.
I figured you’d understand. I mean, about the feeling well part, getting behind and all that.

what a beautiful little quilt! I could see it as a table topper for the 4th of July!
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Breaking rules, going to the quilt store, spry feelings and another fab quilt–you go girl!
Its a great quilt and I for one am glad you went ahead and posted about it. You know, I have set up some “guidelines” for my posting too – mainly to post each Sunday and then my blog reading schedule for the week. But life does get in the way and I am very delinquent in my posting, and I have so much to say. But be that as it may – guidelines are not hard fast set-in-stone rules! Maybe tonight I will just go a little crazy and do a post, LOL.
great quilt! and I like how the 9 patches are different ( at least in the pic they look like different colors )

I just knew that all of those blues would look fabulous together! I love it, and want to make another myself – maybe crib size?
Hi Karen Dee,
Great quilt and I can understand why you like to make another quilt like that.
I think rules are there to help us, but it is o.k to break them too. I broke one of my rules in the first month of this year where I told myself not to buy another quilting book.
Smiles,
Millie
How could you NOT love this quilt. From the name to the design, it is a winner.
….I'm clappin'…love these colors…good choices!
YOU BROKES THE RULES???!!! Go to your room!!….You're grounded… you can't use your rotary cutter for one whole day!!
I thought rules were made to be broken!
I really like this colorway!!
Wow! This is a great quilt! Red/white/blue looks gorgeous.
Love your red, white and blue!!! Rules are made to be broken! Glad you are feeling well and hope you enjoyed the quilt shopping.
As always, I love your work. Wonderful fabrics & pattern.
LOL oh girlfriend there is plenty of room in my crazy world for a kindred spirit!
) I love, love, love the r/w/b!! You just may convince me I need to start one of these too!
Welcome to the club – I live “behind.”
You must change your attitude towards “rules”. Think of them as suggestions.
Love the way this quilt is turning out.
Wow!!! It's gorgeous!! If there are mistakes, I don't see them, so of course they don't exist!
I'm doing a happy dance that you're feeling spry and getting out on the town. Woo Hoo!!!!!
GOOD FOR YOU! We all hold ourselves to far too many rigid habits that really don't matter a whit to anyone else.
YOU GO, GIRL!
What a great reason to post, fabulous, now you'll have one for 4th July. Oh , you could do seasons. I agree, this pattern was the best! Go with the flow, especially on the good days.
and what are rules for, if not to be broken? Want to join me and the rest of the naughty girls at the back of the class?
Red, White and Blue is lovely, and any mistakes definitely don't count if you can't see them!
I am so glad to hear you went to the quilt shop!
I love your American CC and C!
Just call them guidelines instead of rules and then you will be free! I'm glad you were able to get to the quilt shop again.
The rules were only bent a little, Karen! Only one picture and a few paragraphs and links. All is good.
Love the quilt. So glad you felt well and were able to go to the quilt shop.
Truly, feeling well is the very best reason for falling behind. No question.
Great work Karen! You rock!
)
I just noticed Lester is on your blog! He's a gorgeous cat, isn't he?
I missed the boat on that one, but yours is gorgeous.
Simply mahhhvelous. Now I need to make one. Yup, next on the list! LOL
And we benefit from your breaking of the rules – lovely quilt, as always.
Rules are good. Bending them is sometimes necessary. I've figured out that the older I get, the fewer rules I have and the more often I bend the ones that I do have! LOL
Throw the rules out the window!! Glad you're feeling better and went to the quilt store!
Feeling spry is good! Didn't someone once say rules were made to be broken? I love your patriotic quilt, I certainly can't see any errors. You know what they say…..if a quilt passes the 10 foot rule, it's fine…….that is, if you can stand ten feet away and not see any mistakes then don't worry!
Oh, Karen, your American cheese and crackers is wonderful! Love it, love it…don't pay attention to the rules in your head…just pay attention to your heart. I am proud too!
Beauty!!!!! Love the red white and blue:)
As long as the rules don't mess you up… dig them..
Keep on breaking the rules, it probably will keep you young.lol…Love the quilt and totally understand the urge to make another.
I loves me my rules. Keeps me safe. I love breaking them even more! Keeps me alive…
