Is it time to share? I never know but if I wait too long it’ll be a finished share and I prefer to share as I go along. What do you think? I got the idea from Janet over at Mrs. Sew n’ sew. I love her version in red, white and blue. I was thinking if I was going to make this again the best time to do it was now while the flow of it was fresh in my mind and hands. This could end up being the center medallion to a quilt. I like that idea, don’t you? This is actually a bit too heavy on the dark blues and I’m not pleased with that. I should have pulled more medium values. I’m doing the best I can at this point. Oh well…
Once upon a time there was a girl and it was said she was a quilter-who-loves-to-piece with all her heart. One fall and into winter she pieced some sweet little Cheddar 16-patches. She adored the blocks so much that she grinned with happiness every time she peeked in on them as they were hanging up on the design wall. Soon though, sooner than she imagined, it was time to begin contemplating the setting blocks.
Knowing she was going to have to think this through, she sat and considered then finally she sewed. She cut and sewed and tried a couple different options. Sadly the setting blocks caused the smile to leave her face. Nothing was working, nothing would come to mind. So when the quilter-who-loves-to-piece noticed the smile had left her face and her quilty spirit was all dark and gray, she knew it was time to reach out for help.
The quilter-who-loves-to-piece with all her heart called out to her goodly quilting friends from all-across-the-planet and within moments the magic of the internet brought back ideas. She received many good options from the kindness of the quilters from all-across-the-planet. By the end of the day she was heartened to know she had ideas a-plenty, a good handful of great solid options to work with.
Now the quilter-who-loves-to-piece is brightly looking forward to a day where she can play with the fabric and take some pictures to share with her friends. She really loves this quilt. The blocks are fun to make and just too, too sweet. The End.
Okay, The End. Enough! Let’s wrap this sucker up. I have the best wishes for you this day. May you enjoy it to the fullest, savoring each moment. Thank you for sharing your time with me. I get such a jazzed up joy out of your comments and knowing you’re here. That’s a good thing since joy is healing! Today is IV day. I’m anticipating smooth and easy. I found the best orange to bring for a snack. Oh my gosh!!! What a super treat. I tell ya, the little things.

If I see the Cheddar and Crackers quilt one more time, I'm gonna break down and make one myself. Now let me go visit her blog…
Looking forward to the pictures you will soon be sharing.
Your red, white and blue is coming along nicely.
What an adorable story! That's what quilting friends are for, right? Right! Your red, white and blue C & C is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Love the haiku! I'm hoping the IV went smoothly and that gorgeous orange tasted as good as it sounds.
I like your American CC&C vey much. I think I even recognize one of your shirting fabrics :0) Don't you just love the “all over the planet” quilting ideas!
Your RWB version is going to be beautiful, and I think your darks are just fine.
I love the idea of that as the centre of a medallion quilt. You could add all sorts of interesting blocks around the centre!!
Hope your orange was a wonderful treat!
What a great idea to use “American Cheese” as the centre of a quilt. Ilike the dark blues in it and can just picture a whole lot of different blocks around the outside. Clever girl!

I love a good story and this is a great one. The projects are coming along beautifully and I love the sharing as you go, it's part of the creative process. Have a wonderful day, I'll join you on having an orange.
I love fractured fairy tales, especially from family!
Hope your day went well.
What a lovely story! Good wishes for IV day.
What a great little story, I just know that it will have a happy ending, where the blocks find the perfect setting and the quilter will have the bigest smile.
Love the way you wrote your little story! Seriously, I think you could be a writer! Have fun quilting!

I love your story, Quilter-Who-Loves-to-Piece! And I love your work! And I find your blog very inspiring. You are always trying new things. Trying new blocks, playing with new colors or new settings, etc. You are The Babe in Blogland!
The white is nice, but just a tad too much. What if, you placed one small square (using the colours in the main blocks) in the middle of the white block just to break up the whiteness?
The quilter-who-loves-to-piece
At least she know what she loves.
I really like the dark blues, they help balance out the red. Great choice of red by the way . . . bold, daring, beautiful!
Love your American Cheese! And your haiku for today is wonderful.
Good luck with the IV~ the treat sounds delicious!
I love how busy you have been creating! I'm sure you will find the perfect setting for your blocks.
Some blocks just need time to “mature!”
Hope all goes well with the IV…
