This setting for “Slice ‘O Cheddar” (*Wheatland, Bonnie Blue) won First Place for the most depressing and blah. It was drab almost dreary dressed up this way in navy. Serious aversion. Then the little 6.5″ 16 patch blocks had a vision and shouted “Red, red, red! Dress us in red.” I wasn’t the only one that heard that either. I’m just mentioning that since the idea was an immediate inspiration shared.
I’m totally diggin’ this. I’m psyched.
…and check out my corner turn on the biased binding. I mean, the progress and all. There’s hope for me yet. The pinning seriously helps.
Finally, Lurline gave me a stellar idea in her comment yesterday from the Coloration post. I’m hot on that trail. As a matter of fact, it kept me up a little longer than I planned last night. Designing in bed. No!
Mostly though I’m thrilled the red HST’s are working with the 16 patches. I’m going to love this quilt. Oh, oh, oh I dig this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the red choice…perfect. Your curves on your quilt are lovely.
You know I LOVE the red!!!
Designing…in bed?!? Fun!!!
Slumber party hugs….
what a nice splash of color with the red…very nice!!
Just loving the red, it adds the jazz to the setting. Great work on your binding, glad its working out beautifully with all your extra effort. It will be a triumph on both counts!
You go, girl! The red really does rock! It suggests smiles, happiness, jumping jacks and JOY!
Sky Kisser could be your Native American name! Love those blocks with the red! Good choice! :0)
Red is perfect! I knew you would conquer that pesky scallop binding. I like to use bias binding to get that extra stretchy into it.
That red sure sparked things up …. how different from the black …
I've never done a scalloped border, so bravo to you for trying and it sure is looking great!
The binding is beautiful. And the red is absolutely fabulous!!!! Love the red!
Oh yes – is there nothing red can't do? Wonderful, KD! Your scallops are looking loverly. You go, girl!
Wow, Karen I love the red. And your wave or scalloped border turnend out perfect.
Hugs,
Millie
Wow! What a difference one change of colour makes. The red looks fantastic!
Love the red…I am so impressed with your amazing skills. I lack serious quilting skills. And don't get me started on binding…
Isn't it amazing how much difference it can make when you change one colour in a quilt. That now looks wonderful.
As for your curves – humph, I'm jealous, so I'm not going to comment on them!
This quilt is interesting…focus your eyes on the 16 patch blocks and it looks one way, but focus on the hst and it looks totally different. I wonder how it would look if you put the similar border around the hst that you have around the 16 patch. Probably get an entirely new look comning out then.
The red is perfect for those blocks!!
Lovely curves..
Red, all the way, everything goes better in red..
Julia ♥
everything goes better with red
and usually cheddar too!
glad your happy.
Reddy Cheddy! I love that red. You have a real winner.
That corner is superb — soooo very jealous!
I like the red.
Always suspected you were more than a bit of a wild child at heart . . . glad to see that 'wowsers' inner spirit spilling forth into your quilts!
The red definitely ROCKS!
Years ago, I made round corners on all my quilts, always with a bias binding. I thought it was easier than turning a 90 degree corner.I still love that look, although, I have gotten lazy now when it comes to cutting the binding and seem to only make straight bindings. Looks like you have a scalloped binding. I bet it will be beautiful.
Wonderful choice for the colors – isn't it grand when those little blocks talk to you.
And the binding is wonderful – I love curvey edges.
Reddy, set, go is PERFECT!! That Nancy is so clever. I love the red, well done. Your scalloped edge treatment is very, very pretty… way to persevere!
Oh, YES! I'd be calling it “Reddy, Set, Go!”
You are on to somthing good!
Red always rocks! And I see the binding is working too. Great!
That red makes that quilt sing! I put a little red in just about all my quilts. I consider it a neutral. Having just finished that red and cream snowball quilt I can say I'm still loving red. Not sure what I'm going to work on next. Maybe cleaning my cutting table should be first on my list.
Yes…red is definitely the color!
the navy was very formal and the red is just FUN!
What a nice looking curve!~ you go girl!
I love the red with your cheddar blocks~ they just sparkle!
Have a great day!
Oh my… I love seeing the quilting corner back thingy… Love that shape! Love that green! Love the quilted goodness!
Gorgeous. Vintage. YUM!
ps.. I made the Lentils w/ sausage. I did not put in the vinegar… I loved it! My family, sadly, was not into it… buggers…
