Good morning, friends. May I plead with you for a moment or two of your time? Time to walk beside me and listen for a brief moment. I want to share something neat! Bring your Imagination and leave the Judge behind. It’s from last night’s dream – things are odd & outlandish. However and still, I hope you will allow me the latitude of this raw draft while I attempt to very briefly conjure the spirit of my dream, bring it to paper and let it sit – unedited.
A warehouse. A huge warehouse, lofty in it’s heights, so much so you’d need a forklift to reach the highest rolls of fabric. Imagine a hardware store size. Fabric that was so bountiful, well, imagine carpet rolls.
Back down below at normal height you see fabric rolls sorted by color Everywhere color. Like Oz. This aspect of the dream was beautiful as my eye was immediately taken to the Orange. I love Orange. It went from the very palest of orange to the a lit up Burnt Sienna.
Those thick rolls of fabric that were for quilting had an entire area set for roll upon roll of strips. 5″ strips and 2.5″ strips and I had the feeling this went on and on and on. Quilter’s were like ants to candy in this area. And the variety – well I remember seeing a lot of stars and some of that fabric with the glitter look. In my dream I recall thinking “gosh they have anything you could imagine here.”
People were everywhere designing with various strips and rolls.. The clothing designers were alongside in there own world and in my dream. Acknowledged. All sorts of fabric lovers. I was blown away by what people were creating and the chaotic way in which they were doing it. Then finally it turned to me, my project.
Here’s where it gets boring but the setting for the dream – I thought that was so magical and fun. I wanted to share. By the way, there were cutting tables all over the place. I mean just everywhere. Really fun. I’m so much a Quilter. I’m a dog person though, too. Here’s a little something from my Dog Show days.

Thank you for letting me share. I don’t have anything else quilting that I can share. I worked on my Star Quilt Challenge yesterday but that cannot be shown at this time. I’m ready to start sewing but last night I was fretting about whether I had enough fabric to get my border effect in. Ha! Maybe that’s why I had a Quilty dream last night.
Oh man, it takes a long time for me to put 2 and 2 together sometimes. Sheesh!

Hi there! What a fun dream! I think I'd be in real trouble in such a store though.
Hope you had a good weekend and all is well!~
You've been on my mind Karen…I hope all is well and your heart is peaceful.
Magical things going on in your head at night. Thanks for sharing the dream!
What a beautiful dream! Perfect dream for a perfect quilter!
Great dream! Wow–what we all could do with all that fabric!
And sweet dog show photo.
You just described a visit to a Minnesota fabric warehouse clearing house, with the exception of the nicely organized and strips cut ~ most warehouse sales are a bit of a junk yard, lol. So go cut a pretty orange quilt and then enjoy some playtime with the dogs.
Sounds to me like you are due to make an orange quilt or a quilt with lots of orange in it!! LOL
I love that you shared your wonderful dream. Did you know that they really do have fabric warehouses here? My friend goes all the time, it is terribly dangerous on the credit card…could cause a fire with all that zipping through the registers!
I hope that dream comes true….next time grab onto some fabric and hold tight before waking up…..remember when we were young and dreams of wonderful things….I'd alway grab something…hold on tight before I woke…..I didn't bring anything forward from the dream but, boy was it fun to try.
Take care.
Did you need money in Fabric Oz? I hope not. To be in that wonderful place with empty pockets would be a sad dream… Thanks for checking in on me. I'm back with cats and quilts to share. Missed you! Sending healing wishes to Kingston.
Land of Oz, indeed! Were you wearing ruby slippers? My favorite dreams take place in antique stores or quilt shops, but I've never dreamt of a fabric warehouse! Wow!
Love the photo of you and Taylor – thank you for sharing it.
If you ever find that place for real you will let us know won't you? It sounds fabulous. As for the photo of you and Taylor, it looks like he's smiling for the camera too.
And now, after leaving NC a day early, driving south through Atlanta to Birmingham, through Tupelo and Holly Springs, we are 10 hours later safely home while the snow and ice pelt the windows and cover the sidewalks, grass, trees, and roads.
Tomorrow I will be piecing and stitching and enjoying this transplanted play day at home in my own space . . . and dreaming of your marvelous visit to Oz.
Hugs (and thanks) – BTW, great photo!
Perhaps your dream was telling you that your challenge quilt needs an orange border!
That's a lovely pic of you and your pal.
Oh Karen…Reading it…I felt like I was in the dream with you.
If only we could all meet in a place like that..
keep dreaming sweet dreams like that Karen
Lovely picture of you with Taylor.

What a wonderful dream!! Now if only there were a place like that!
Lovely picture of you with Taylor.
Karen, what a wonderful dream. I would so love to visit that warehouse…especially in a dream because dreams that focus on something you love are far and away the most beautiful and memorable. Thank you so much for sharing! I really did enjoy it and you described it so well that I felt as though I was in the aisle with you and it was indeed delightful. Funny isn't it how we wake up and think 'Hmmm I wonder where those dreams/thoughts came from' and then we remember something that may have triggered it for us. I also love the dog show picture! A beautiful dog AND a beautiful woman. Thank you…
Ahh, if only dreams were reality. Keep dreaming, girl!
If only real life were like that! What fun!
Lovely picture of you and Duke. What a wonderful smile you have!
Hugs, Lynda
Unfettered freedom of choice in a quilt warehouse—definitely a dream worth repeating!
We have an Aussie too, he's a red merle and has partial blue eyes and a happy grin like most Australian shepherds. He likes to herd the cats.
Dreams are wonderful, aren't they …… now, if only that could happen in real life …
I can't even remember my dreams. I can only hope that they are this good.
Sometimes, when I am very stressed and/or cannot sleep, I go to a “happy place” in my mind. The most frequent happy place is an imaginary cabin in the woods where I build/design various rooms in my head until I fall asleep. The kitchen and the sunny quilting studio are my faves. Soooo much better than counting sheep!
Next time I'm in a non-sleeping pickle, I am going to your quilting warehouse, so don't be surprised if you see me there. I'll be over by the starry fabric and maybe the turquoise. I'll invite you to come back home with me to my sunny quilting studio in my cabin in the woods. We'll have tea in my kitchen too.
And an interesting future – I'd love to visit that dream warehouse.
What fun! You told that dream beautifully. Thanks for the grins. And as I said, I love the dog show photo. You've got an interesting past, don't you?
I'll be right over to share that dream!!!
Thank you for sharing your fabric dream! Wouldn't it be fabulous to go to such a place in real life?
Love the pic you posted of you and the gorgeous dog!
Have a great weekend!

Sounds like a quilters dream!!….LOL
