I’m daring to show up again and give this another go. I’m showing up with part endurance and part discipline. I’ve learned through our shared discussion that for me, they go hand-in-hand. Yes, endurance is a softer word and I can work with that. Discipline for me is simply showing up every day and working at it. I compare it to a sport. Every day it’s practice. You show up and practice every single day. Mostly. Now endurance is getting to the point of achievement, reward and finish. I’m going to have to work with this whole combo I can see that! Thanks for sharing in the entire discussion. You Rock!!!
But truth be told it’s the feeling of guilt that’s got me binding. Guilt. Guilt. Guilt. I’m going to need some endurance to get it done but since it’s in the middle of the kitchen – it has to happen. The foil is there to keep the cats off ~ thank you Jackie (my friend I run into at The Olde Green Cupboard) for that tip.
Here I found some special yellow in my stash for my special swap. Two favorite fabrics, two friends, two of the same blocks, end of the month I keep one block – send her the other. She does the same. In the end we’ll have the same quilt. Friendship. My color is Red. Her color is Yellow. These are from my Daphanie stash, too! That makes it extra wunnerful. If you want in on this special swap, let me know. It’s going to feel so good to have this connection with my friend. Knowing thru the years she’ll have this same quilt.
Now I’m all about Exuding Color okay. But, it is sort of hard for me. I’m just sayin’!!! I’m learning to work with a new fabric and I guess that’s understandable, I don’t know – is it? I’m not the Village Idiot of Color but I sure don’t feel all cool and hip and happenin’ I’ll tell you that. But, let me think… how often do I really feel cool and hip and happenin’… Hmm… Not a vibe I have in the quilt room a lot. Now that I think about it. Well, I did feel pretty cool when I was working with the Inklingo stuff doing that Alabama Beauty block. But I mean, come on – That did Rock!
Now here’s my Cheddar for the “Cheddar Cheese and Crackers” doll quilt I’m working on. The cheddar I have on the DW is here but I actually don’t have enough to finish it – I don’t think – so I’m using this real cheddary cheddar.
And just to close everything out and so that Kippy isn’t “left out” here he is hunting for attention and cosmically pointing out the new kitty spot I’m about to clear for the cats. My note cards are down there along with some oft used books so those will all have to be relocated to an unknown land. But I can see by Kippy’s look that he’s ready for me to get with the program, get a box and deal with the Land of the Unknown on my own time!
Dang! 30 words over. I was shooting for 500 words or less. I could probably cut out 30 words but it might take more time and it’s 6pm. Surely there’s something that needs to happen!
A big huge thank you for visiting yet again! Hope it was worthy of your time. I think it was for me at last. I got to share some things and that blasted Critic didn’t shut me down so hey – I’m thinking right now, right here – I Rock!
Well, I'm slow but I get there eventually! I have not been receiving the FeedBlitz's lately, which I just figured out yesterday. Just when I was going to do something about this problem, FeedBlitz shows up in my inbox! Go figure. Anyhoo, here I am……again. Hee! Endurance and discipline – my words to live by. Some days are more one than the other, but they both seem to be hallmarks of my life. Whatever gets you up and at 'em every day and keeps you going should be the feeling du jour, as it were. Looks like you've been a busy girl! I thought the foil on the quilt was to keep the aliens away! Does that mean that cats are from outer space? Hah! I love the look on Kippy's face – “this is MY space, so what're you going to do about it?” Gotta love animals and their view of the world. Your swap sounds wonderful – I'm so glad you're honoring Daphanie in this way. I'm sure she'd love it. Oh, by the way, you DO Rock!!
That swap sounds so neat – a friend to friend quilt – what an idea.
Love the foil, I wondered what the heck that was! I think I have to try Lori's doll quilt. I kept seeing the blocks but didn't read back far enough to see what the quilt was. I love that quilt! Great piece of cheddar you found. I adore your CW Tribute quilt! It must be like getting a new quilt after so long gone. I am glad I got to see it in person on display!
Foil…that is one of Brownie's all time favorite things to play with, jump on or even just stare at…hope it works better with your felines!
Karen, Love the friendship quilt idea, how fun and special is that??? The yellows are beautiful and I do truly think that 'Cheddar' is going to be wonderful. As for your posts, they are always worthy of my time. But then, that is what spending time with friends is, isn't it? Lots of ideas exchanged, encouraging and inspiring each other and just occasionally a shoulder to cry on if someone is down. Yup, time well spent, always! Now, I'm off to spend a day sewing (“endurance” will be my mantra today). Gentle hugs comin your way.
Thanks for the foil tip – next time you hear from me my house will be covered in foil.
Love the foil! I was wondering what the heck you were up to! Anyway, love yellow, and love the Kaffe fabrics. How fun! I'm going to go wrap my bed in foil!
Not sure that it is ever a matter of being 'hip or happenin' … I think it is more a matter of doing what makes you happy (some days that is one thing and other days it is another, and sometimes there's more that one thing on the same day).
You take care, no matter what color is involved!
Yes you do rock! Swapping blocks with a friend is great fun! I'm looking fwd to seeing your blocks! And your Kaffe blocks are very hip & cool! Have a great day!
“How often do I feel cool and hip and happening” That made me laugh out loud, not at you, but at the thought of how appropriate it would be for me to say!
Woody Allen (I think) said “99% of life is showing up.” See, you've got it covered.
And finally, I'm looking at paint chips for my dining room wall, and I just realized that the color I'm leaning toward is cheddar! Hmmm.
See, your blog is just jam-packed with ideas!
You do rock, girlfriend! I've told you that, haven't I?
I love the swap-in-progress. You'll keep us in the loop, won't you?! Fun fun.
And I found it rather cosmic that both of us — with our latest blog posts — talked about *sport.* Crazy how a little Mexican girl and a little German/Irish/English girl could ever be kindred spirits…but they are, I'm thinkin'.
Soul Sista hugs….
love the yellow fabrics, oh those new blocks look great…can't wait to see more. Kathie
So you think Kippy's OK with you clearing his new space “in your own time” do you? Hmm, from the look on his face, I don't think so! He'll start moving things out on his own any time now!
The foil really works for you? Lester thinks foil is a food group! I love your idea of the special block swap with a friend — what a great way to share! Oooh, I absolutely love what you're doing with the Kaffe fabrics. This will be fun to watch.
You rock, indeed you do. Gorgeous cheddar yellow, there are many songs about yellow…..Yellow Submarine, Mellow Yellow, Eighteen Yellow Roses, Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree, Yellow is the Colour of My True Love's Hair…..there are probably more, but the heat is frying my brain today.
Yep, you rock….and I love reading your blog.
I love yellow too. That foil tip is a really good one. I don't have cats but if I did I would use that one.
You are working some real sunshine into your life! Yellow, my favorite color, red a close second. How could you not be happy with those 2 colors and the Kaffe fabric.
I don't have a cat but I'm going to pass the foil tip on to a friend.
Good colors. That swap sounds so neat – a friend to friend quilt – what an idea.
Lovin' the yellow! And I think it rocks that you are mixing it up with the brights. You sew girl!!!!
