Good morning friends, thank you for being here with me to start the day. I’m working on getting my act together. Do you have your act together? Its’ 8:05 here, definitely time to be moving and going.
I’ve been working on these 7.5″ unfinished (I think) blocks for “Slice ‘O Cheddar” now for I don’t know how long. I think I have something like 52 with limited ideas for the setting block. This is based on the Bonnie Blue Pattern – Wheatland so I could copy the pattern and make a bazillion HST of Navy and Tan. That’ll work. Although they’re discontinuing the pattern so it must be a bummer design and I don’t know that I want that. (Oh update, I did have a setting idea from Liz!)
The following is from Zen Habits. The post has more meat to it, this is just a bit. I know a lot of y’all read this but I liked it and wanted to work with it and thought I’d share since it’s good, healthy stuff for a start to the day.
1. Let go. Many times we are held back by the tangled web
2. Decide what matters most today. What matters is today — that you’re going to work on this with all your heart, today. Tomorrow … we’ll decide on that tomorrow.
3. Clear away distractions and focus. …Now, find focus. Even if only for 15 or 20 minutes at first, but preferably for 30-60 minutes. You can take a break and check your email or whatever after you’ve focused.
4. Find happiness now. You’re doing what you love. And that is truly a gift.
5. Reinvent yourself, every day. Be passionate, be happy, right now.
Hope you enjoyed your visit as I enjoy my visits with you. Warmly, with much appreciation for your time and presence, *karendianne.

I really look forward to seeing how you decide to set these little cuties!

Zen is always good! Thanks.
Your mitered corners are gorgeous! And all your points are pointy in those hourglass blocks. Some fine sewing goin' on there, lady! Zen is a great concept and it sure is helpful to have things to tell yourself every day…Focus certainly means a lot in this crazy busy complicated world we live in.
I hear that a Cheddar addiction is fortunately harmless, go for it!
I really love all the cheddar ideas you have going. The Bonnie Blue Wheatland design is right up my alley, and I love the star design that Liz created. I hope you do them both!
Also, love the mitered edge. That quilt looks darling!
Those blocks are divinely decadent, methinks! Love me some cheddar, I do.
Thank you for introducing me to Zen Habits. I have not heard of this site and I went over and subscribed to it immediately. Wonderful words that I had decided to put into place this year. To be in the “now” is a wonderful feeling, no matter how long it lasts! It reminds me of what my husband used to tell our son (when he was a little guy) when we'd be on long trips. Nate would ask “Where are we?” and his dad would say “We are right HERE now!” and point to a spot on the freeway racing beneath us. Nathan now uses that line on his kids.
Happy Today!!
Love the words of wisdom. I need to say this to myself every day when I wake up…. Can't wait to see what you do with those blocks xx
Oh I really like those blocks. Can't wait to see it all put together!

Letting go — so important! Great way to start your day.
I love your blocks. Can't wait to see how you set them.

An awesome thought to hold onto.
I absolutely love my visits with you!!! Your blocks are awesome!!!

Than a little cheddah.

1. Let go.
2. Decide what matters most today.
3. Clear away distractions and focus.
I really need to work on number 1, I am feeling guilty just reading the list – I need to let go of the guilt.
Wow did I need this post today or what! Thank you. Good words to hear.
I always love my visits here. The cheddar blocks are coming along so nicely.
Letting go – now there is something I'll work on – I often use the words – Just Be – it helps me to let go and no try to manipulate things quite so much. Thanks for the reminder you dear sweet thing!
Oooh pretty blocks! I'll be interested to see Liz's setting idea…although “Wheatland” is pretty grand looking. Really? A bazillion? Yeah…must be a pretty exact count….
I love your healthy stuff for starting the day. Although, I did recognize there was no caffeine included. Hmph.
Seriously though…you know I've been real in tune to both Mistress KDL and Cesar Millan. I think both are pretty strong advocates in “Live in the now.” Great food for thought, that's for sure!
Fillin' up on hugs….
These blocks are lovely! Now me, I'm quite partial to the setting of the original quilt – there is just something about the strictness of those vertical lines
) Happy you had an idea from Liz you can play with – and I really look forward to seeing how you decide to set these little cuties!
Hugs and stitches
Letting go – that is a topic that could be an entire blog unto itself. I am working hard to let go of things that bring me no joy or interaction … a challenge, to be sure.
Lovely post ~ like you!
I'm digging your Cheddar blocks. Can't wait to see how you set them!
