Little Quilt Starts

I bid you welcome. It’s safe. We’ll not speak of loss. No matter where I may be emotionally, LeeHaven moves on. I know I don’t have children… but I do. Beating hearts depend upon my well-being. Hard with the MS in tow (no one sees the unseen symptoms) but at times like this I have to admit there’s wisdom in this interdependent life I’ve created. I have to keep LeeHaven moving. So we’re moving…

Just a little something I’ve been playing with. Test block on the left because I like to see what it takes. I think I’m going to make a little quilt. They’re just darn cute. It was a challenge to stay away from the cheddar blocks but I really wanted a little something I could whip up and maybe start hand quilting. We’ll see where I get with this.

I’ve had the terrible urge for weeks to get to the yarn store and start a new Afghan. Great pattern afoot. Dying to start. No cash. Suckin‘ it up, last night I went back to work on my scrappy afghan. Gag me. The love is NOT there. So yeah, I’m thinking if I get this worked up I’ll have some handwork to do. It might just do.

Don’t pay any attention to the 4 quilts “behind the curtain” that need binding. Those don’t count as handwork really. Really they done. Really!

Oh and before I go, thank you for entering the Gone-away Give-away!!! We’ll share that bundle. I cut the entire 42 pieces into Fat Eighths. You’ll get one side of the bundle, I’ll keep the other side. Very connected. :)

Warmly and with much gratitude for the support, *karendianne.

  1. I love the test block! Can't wait to see the little quilt! Handwork of any type….quilting, knitting, crochet, etc. brings peace and relaxation. Enjoy.
    Hugs, Karen

  2. Oh…and I can vouch: Potty training a kid — or at least my three — is much easier than potty training a furbaby!!! But we're good…all is good.

    Darcie and Diesel hugs….

  3. Just what I was thinking to myself: “Her babes. They'll get her through. They'll keep her lifted.” ;-)

So this yarn store that keeps beckoning you? What's it called? Is it in Jville? Somebody's birfday is coming up…perhaps you need to go make a wish list?!

    Wishing hugs….

  4. I do like the blocks! Good for you! Love the fabrics.
I agree about having 4-legged kids being good for making you move along with life. I would be lost without my girls some days.

  5. I think handwork is pretty soothing, at least for me it is, and sometimes I am right there, wanting a little project to hand quilt. Yours is shaping up beautifully.

  6. Very cute blocks! :-) Are you knitting or crocheting your afghan? I used to crochet until I had so many afghans I didn't want to look at another. LOL Now we only have 2~ funny how that worked. Have a good day!

  7. Test block is a good idea, that's a cute block…..it will make for a pretty little quilt. When you are not feeling the love for a project it's difficult to get on with it!

  8. Little quilts are great! It's a great way to try fabric combinations, block designs, they go together quickly and one has some almost instant gratification!!

  9. I love your little blocks. I have made a few table toppers but they just don't qualify as “little quilts'. Though I am no longer able to do any hand sewing I really long to hand quilt something, no matter how tiny…ah well, I just won't go there. Binding is the easy part for me because I learned to do in by machine and it works wonderfully. As for the scrappy afghan, LOL, I have one which was dubbed years ago my “Ugly Blanket” I feel the same way you do about yours (gag me). It doesn't bother me in the least that it will remain forever unfinished. One more thought I just wanted to share about those “beating hearts that depend upon your well being”. Aren't they wonderful. Every beat of those hearts brings love and joy into your life. Okay, now, onto the 'little quilt', I'm very anxious to see pictures of your progress as you go along. I love seeing your work come together.

  10. you have a great start there!
making little quilts is very rewarding , a finished project in between the BIG projects we are always working on
keep at it and glad to hear you will hand quilt it!
    K
