Slice o’ Cheddar

Lots of great ideas for what to give a new Protege! While reading your ideas I could really tell I’m fortunate to hang around not just talented quilters but Wise Women. I don’t have anyone to be my Protege but if I happen upon someone in the future…

Thank you for asking about my Mentor. At last update she continues to battle H1N1 receiving better care at bigger-city hospital after they life-flighted her from po-dunk-city hospital. She’s still on the Ventilator and has a Trache (direct airway thru the windpipe) but that’s good news.

Thought you might like to see the status of “A Slice of Cheddar.” Tonight Susie came over and put these up for me – in no particular order. We had a great time at the Design Wall and I was safe on the ground. As is customary, she chose her favorite blocks which I can’t at this moment point out because I can’t figure out how to explain it in words without sounding like an idiot.

So, what do you think? I was thinking these were about all I am going to make. I haven’t looked back at the killer Design Liz made for me yet. I am feeling like I might just set these with a plain block and allow some quilting to speak for itself. I guess I’m needing a finish maybe. Maybe not though. I mean, I finished putting together Cabin Tracks (borderless) today so why do I “need” to hurry and finish this. Oh geez, the Fickle Quilter has arrived!

  1. Look at those loverly little blocks! If your quilty heart is telling you to make more of those, by all means! I say let the Fickle Quilter in! She usually reigns supreme at my house. hee….

  2. I'm happy to hear your mentor is getting better care. What a difficult and heart wrenching experience.

I adore yellows and oranges of any kind in quilting. I'm currently debating whether to buy some of the indigo pewter and honey…..what can I say I'm a bit behind the “fad” but I keep coming back to it.

You do beautiful work Karen. I'm always excited to drop in!

  3. PLEASE tell me that you did not paint the wall behind your design wall to match the quilt? Do you do that for all of your designs?

Seriously, that cheddar makes a design pop. Looking sharp!
