Cat Nurse

Kingston has Peritonitis so I’m being a Cat Nurse. I’m ensuring he’s getting water into his system with a syringe, blending his bland diet and providing small amounts every 4-6 hrs. I’m actually doing every 6 hrs. He’s taking the food so that’s good. He’s getting a lot of TLC as I believe in all that mind/body/soul stuff when it comes to healing.

…and my IV treatment is on Monday so I have to keep myself grounded in what’s important because life feels a little tense and I don’t want to walk in there on Monday like that.

There’s been no quilting here today but I am going to get my haircut so that should help perk me up.

  1. I had a long overdue haircut this week so I don't underestimate the feel good power of that!

Hope Kingston is one the road to recovery …Chesty goes in on Monday so I'll be nursing right along with you soon.

  2. Oh poor Kingston! I hope he gets well soon. Did the vet say when he should be well again? Is he on any medications? We, two and four legged folks, are all concerned and wishing you well. Sending speedy healing and warm fuzzy thoughts to you both.

  3. Aw…good buddy. Sure hope that he's on the road to better well-being. And hope too, that your other babes are behaving while you're tending to Kingston.

“One at a time folks, one at a time.” Don't know who said that, if anyone did…but that's what just popped into my head. I know. Great stuff, isn't it. lol Words of wisdom, fer sher.

Sending you vibes of goodness and well-being right this very moment, Karen Dianne!

    Living in the moment hugs….

  4. Rx: every six hours you need to stop and give yourself a big hug … being a kitty nurse is hard work.

Lots of furry prayers and good thoughts winging your way from TN… and yes, mind/body is VERY important.

  5. I'm sure you are a great nurse to Kingston…Brownie and Goldie send him their best!

When I have to go for outpatient procedures I plan on a treat for me – like a gingerbread latte from the Coffee Shop or an eclair from the bakery or even a new scissors from the quilt shop (all treats do not have to be edible!)

  6. Kingston is such a beautiful kitty! I'm glad he's taking to your wonderful nursing techniques so well. Poor baby and poor you! I am already envisioning a smoothly running IV treatment on Monday. I know all will be well for you and Kingston.
I'm sure the haircut helped you smile, too!

  7. oh noooo, “paw” Kingston. I hope he feels better soon then you will too. The haircut should help though I hope. Take care, both you and Kingston.

  8. I've been through something like this, with Schuster when he had to have foreign objects removed from his stomach. He HATED the syringe feeding sessions, but was too weak to do much about it. He would wrap his arms around my neck and mew just pitifully. Hope your sweet Kingston Cat feels well soon. He has such pretty eyes. What is he thinking?

Now what can we do to help you? Huh? I got my hair done today, it didn't hurt one bit, then I had to poke my finger for the vampire test and that hurt. But the number told me that I am doing well. The medicines we have to take make us feel like pea soup looks for a while, but then we regroup and can play with dogs and sew once again. Hang in there, all you have to do is think about the treatment and dream of home for a rest once it's done. Maybe you can eat the pea soup, it's good for you!

  9. Take some rest for yourself when you can – every six hours is hard on anyone – people or cat. Hope all is better soon. I'm out of words – my brain is overcome with tiredness tonight and I blabber when I'm tired – so I'll stop. Nite.

  10. Cat Flu?

Take care of yourself and the Kingston. We'll all keep you in our thoughts. At least you're not a COW like Nancy (and me).

  11. Popping in to say “hi” and that I hope everything comes out right, all the way around. You and Kingston, prayers for both of you. Must be this is the season for ailing cats. Ebby was 'off' her feed and trying to hack up a hairball most of the night on Wednesday. She wanted no food on Thursday, but is eating again today. Seems to be her old self again. Thinking of you, hugs, Finn
