Called to Spin

I’m intrigued by the mind and emotions. I think it’s safe to say I’m a student of the mind, body (& emotional) link. Below is a photograph which I find to be a perfect study in how it plays out in my realm.

This is yesterday. A day. At first glance it looks chaotic – as if there’s a struggle or a process afoot. A little bit of both I should think. Struggling to “let go” is a process and I had some personal letting go to do. It surely helped that process along to have such wide, kind support. Sometimes a woman does need that and I thank you with the depth of warmth a good heart has to give.

What I like about this photo is how it reflects my Action to Overcome. I’m leaning on my favorites to guide me. This isn’t unfocused chaos, this is wise use during a process. I like that.

As the day wore on and I fatigued out I found myself sipping some decaf and simply saying/asking: “Today’s your last day…” and Spinning Hexagons immediately came to mind. I followed the Spirit. I wasn’t sure until today what fabrics to use but then I heard word from my small stash of Kaffe.

There’s a lot of good going on here. I completely dig how this came about. No decisions all day then the question: Today’s your last day, what are you working on? Out of nowhere up this pops. THAT is God at work in my life. I’m sincerely experiencing it.

On the other hand, Kanga is sincerely ticked off that I would snap a photo when she’s all snuggled in the bathroom sink. I would have enjoyed this photo more if she wasn’t so dern mad!

  1. Wow, spinners look really neat, I've never tried those before…looks challenging…love the color and KF prints. Thank you for all the comments you always leave me…think of you often. Keeping you in my prayers tonight.:)

  2. Out of chaos come beautiful spinning hexagons! I love that Kaffe fabric! Makes those blocks really pop! I enjoyed seeing the place where your creativity finds you. It's not nearly as chaotic as I thought it would be. Or at least as mine would be. As for Kanga(sinkful of cute!)… Who needs a guard dog when you have her? I'm not going anywhere near that sink!

  3. Funny how that creative process can transport us to a better dimension! And look what came of it – dazzling spinners, Karen! Kanga has the right idea – keep cool on the lovely porcelain! Ms. Soph will be there this week with temps in the 90's!
    Cheers!

  4. Love the spinning hexagons, but that Kanga in the sink is just to fabulous! How I would love to pet those pretty babies of yours.

Amongst the chaos, comes creativity I say!

    Hugs,

    Anett

  5. Once again a post from you has got me contemplating my creative Spirit. Your 'chaotic' photo makes me smile – that's what my table looks like when I'm on to something!
Your spinning hexagons are incredible – out of chaos, comes beauty. I bet you're feeling much, much better today.
As for Miss Bucket-O-Kute, she's more like Miss Bucket-O-Whoop Ass! That is definitely one mad cat! You shoulda sicced her on those dirty locksmiths.

  6. The perfect active spin to 'today, is the first day….' I love your 'stop in your tracks, feel the energy, then act' approach. Time to empty that garbage can from yesterday and the day before that…and move forward with openness. And those evil eyes…remember the Greeks, they keep evil eyes around them at all time to KEEP the evil away! Guard cat on duty! And keys…and locksmiths etc. Keys ARE keys!!!! They symbolize just what you needed to know. Onward and forward!!!! Feel the love!!!!!We're ALL sending it!

  7. WOOHOOO! those hexagons really came to life in the Fassett fabrics — so much better than dull old repro stuff. They sing!

My daughter has a huge siamese mix named Taco who also loves the bathroom sink, mostly when you really want to use it. Nuthin' like a sink full of cat in the morning…

  8. oooh Kanga cat looks soo cross – look at the red eyes there! I love the spinning hexagons and your picture makes me think I really must have a go at those myself.

  9. I love all the work you are doing. I am on vacation right now but hopefully once school starts I will get to sew a little bit I hope. Love the picture of the kitty. Looks like I am behind in reading your posts. I am going to catch up right now.

  10. Ooooeeee look at the eyes on upset kitty. Tuna will fix that! LOL
How fun to see your work space and what all was on the table. I'm such a snoop.
Good to see productiveness (is that a word?)

  11. I love Kaffe Fassett as you know, and what moved me the most is just you “in spirit” playing with color and pattern and it's so FUN to look at. I'm tickled for you. Geez – gettin' over something/yourself sure can have its rewards! Thanks for the cranky kitty picture. Header change is cool too.
    Love you lots

  12. My goodness, Kanga certainly does look cranky. I wonder if her last day wish was to 'sleep long and hard in the sink'.
I was thinking about what I'd like to stitch on my last day, and I actually can't decide … it could be a sign that I have too many things on the go.
Thank you for a thought provoking post.
    *hugs*

  13. I love your Fassett spinning hexagons! Those are such fun to put together!!
What a pose by Kanga — Smudge does that too in the bathroom sink, particularly when it's a hot day.
