Girl Power!

Rachel rocked as she ran! Although if you watched Mine that Bird come from behind, weaving his way through heavy traffic, you’d know that given a few more lengths he’d likely have won. That doesn’t take away from Rachel though. She ran a race for the ages. I’ll be watching Mine that Bird if I decide to watch the next leg of the race to finish off the Triple Crown that is out of reach yet again.

As a rule, I don’t watch Horse Racing anymore. When I was a kid I recall it being a ritual in our household. I often cried (on the inside) and as I grew up that didn’t stop. I just avoided it. But this year, with Dad on the other end of the line, I couldn’t help but watch. I didn’t want to miss what he said was going to be the race to see. You were right Dad.

In other news from LeeHaven there was no sewing yesterday. Dizzy was my mode. Medication was doing a number on me. My vision was tracking left and right and up and down. Thankfully today I’m feeling improvement. I might even get in there and do some sewing. Wooo Hoo!!! That would be fantastic.

  1. I didn’t watch the race, either. I read the book about Seabiscuit, and horse racing has never been the same for me. What the horses and the jockeys go through to be winners is too much for me.
I hope the dizziness subsided and you did get some sewing done.

  2. I hope you got to sew today. I love your gratitudes list. That makes you stop and think. I didn’t watch the race but have heard lots of people talking about it. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  3. I was just SICK that I missed the race … I NEVER miss it! I was so caught up in painting I forgot about the race … so wanted to see that filly run. Watched replays … better than nothing … I still got excited & hollared like a fool.

How are you feeling, better I hope.

  4. Don’t know too much about horse racing, but I’m right there with you on the ‘graditudes’. Hope you’re feeling better today. Sending you hugs and warm fuzzies!

  5. I wanted to watch it but I got caught up in cleaning up the yard after a messy winter. Plus my neighbor was ripping out all his landscaping and hubby and I were over there taking the perfectly good plants and replanting them in our gardens.

  6. You need to add Thorns and Roses to your rituals – name the worst and the best things that happen each day . . . we learned this years ago when the boys were earning their Eagle ranks. Helps put things in perspective.

Glad today is better than yesterday!!!

  7. Girl Power Back at you Karen! I always think oh there’s so many reasons I can’t quilt and then something reminds me of what you’re surviving and I think Gosh I am a whiner! So Girl Power Karen for being my Sewspiration! I hope you’re feeling better today.

  8. Yes, we girls are powerful and strong. The girls here are pulling for you to win your own race, Karen! Sewing will be good for your soul! Take care….

  9. …and being a Child of God…

    Hope you’re feeling better today.
